FISHPLATE PRESENTS! On the first Friday of the month, Fishplate Poetry offers Fishplate Presents, a curated reading series during the monthly Art Walk on Bainbridge Island at the Good Egg, 6:00-8:00. Donations are taken at the door for SAMS (Syrian American Medical Society). Renown poets from the region read their work and books are available for purchase. The wonderful Good Egg offers superb food and drink for sale and is walking distance from the ferry from Seattle. Everyone is welcome to come and hear great poetry, meet the poets, and support local business as well as SAMS.

Tara Hardy is a Working Class, Queer, Disabled, Femme writer and founder of BENT, a writing institute for LGBTQ in Seattle. Her second collection My, My, My, My, My won the 2017 Washington State Book Award. One of the top spoken-word artists in the country, Tara is also on the faculty at Evergreen State College and University Behind Bars.
Sandy Yannone is the director of the writing center at Evergreen State College. Her poetry has been widely published and her debut collection Boats for Women has recently been released and is in part about the Titanic disaster of 1912.
Michele Bombardier’s poetry has been widely published and her debut collection, What We Do has been praised as “a call to empathy” by the renown poet Ellen Bass. Michele earned her MFA in poetry amid a long career as a SLP. Michele is a long time Bainbridge Islander and the founder of Fishplate Poetry.
