Fishplate refers to the metal plate that holds railroad ties together which comes from the term for the bracket that holds up the mast of a tall ship. Fishplate Poetry is about support for poets and writers. We are also about doing good.

Fishplate Poetry is a social purpose organization with the mission to provide workshops and retreats for writers while raising money for humanitarian work. As writers, we write the world. Fishplate seeks to help writers and help serve. Fishplate currently supports SAMS (Syrian American Medical Society) which provides direct medical help to refugees in camps in the Middle East and North Africa.
